This policy is aligned with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
1. Data fiduciary

2. What we collect
- Account data: name, phone, email.
- Content you post: campaigns, comments, messages.
- Volunteer application data: Reel URL and a selfie for verification. We never store government ID numbers.
- Coarse location (~100 m) only if you use Help Near Me or file a help request.
- Payment status metadata from our gateway — we never see or store your card or UPI credentials.
- Device and usage analytics.
3. Why we process it
To provide and secure the service; verify votes and volunteers; route help requests; process payments; and comply with law.
4. Consent & choice
Location is opt-in per use; you can decline and use the manual area list instead. Marketing messages are sent only with consent.
5. Sharing
We share data with processors only (hosting, database, payment gateway, SMS/OTP provider, analytics) under contract, and with authorities when legally required. We never sell personal data.
6. Retention
- Help-request locations: deleted 72 hours after resolution.
- OTP logs: 30 days.
- Account data: until you request deletion.
- Payment and ledger records: retained as required by law.
7. Your rights
You have rights of access, correction, erasure, grievance, and nomination under the DPDP Act. Write to support.janhisab@gmail.com; we respond within statutory timelines.
8. Children
The service is not directed at children; processing of minors’ data occurs only with verifiable guardian consent as required.
9. Security
Encryption in transit, hashed OTPs, role-based access, audit logs, and breach notification as required by law.

Updates are posted here with the effective date.
